Orifice

Orifice
2018
earthenware
6 x 6.5 x 9.5 inches
This hybrid, monstrous face combines four mouths, two ears, a nose, and two breasts. Its eyes are crafted from closed lips, while a large, open mouth at the back of the head represents an uncontrollable spread of words. The breasts double as eyes, further unsettling familiar perceptions. Orifice captures the chaos and distortion that arise when too many voices speak at once, embodying how excessive expression can amplify meaning and distort intent.
